No — this is a fan-built recreation of the opening area of Team Cherry's Hollow Knight, made in Construct 3 and playable in any browser. The real Hollow Knight is a $15 Unity game with 30+ hours of content. The browser demo covers the Dirtmouth → Forgotten Crossroads descent — about 15 minutes of gameplay — and captures the art, combat feel, and atmosphere but not the full scope. If you enjoy the demo, buy the real game on Steam, Switch, PS4/PS5, or Xbox.
Three reasons: (1) it's free, (2) it runs in any browser without installation — so it works on school Chromebooks where Steam doesn't, (3) it's a faithful enough recreation that you can taste the atmosphere of Hallownest in 15 minutes. For people who can't install the real game right now, the demo is the closest thing they'll get.
Move with arrow keys or WASD. Jump with W / Up / Space. Attack with X or J or Left Click. Down-slash by holding Down + Attack — this is the famous Hollow Knight pogo move and the demo includes it. The control scheme matches the real game closely enough that muscle memory transfers.
Yes — this browser demo. The full Steam version of Hollow Knight will not run on a Chromebook. The browser recreation works on locked-down Chromebooks, school laptops, and most managed networks. Use the Access Links page if the main domain is blocked.
